Terms of service

The service

Common Past lets private groups build a shared timeline of memories and photos. It is provided free of charge, as is, and may change, be interrupted or end at any time.

Your account and groups

• You sign in with your Google account and are responsible for activity under it.
• Each group's administrators decide who joins and what role they have. We may approve, rename, suspend or remove groups at our discretion.

Your content

• You keep ownership of what you upload or write. You give us permission to store, process, copy (for example, to make smaller versions of photos) and show it to the members of the group you shared it with, only to run the service.
• Only upload content you have the right to share. Think about the people shown in photos and named in descriptions, including people who are not members; respect their wishes if they object.
• Other members of your group can edit shared descriptions and dates; changes are recorded and can be undone.

Acceptable use

Do not use Common Past to share unlawful, infringing, sexually explicit, hateful or harassing content, to impersonate others, to send spam, or to interfere with the service or other people's access to it. We may hide or remove content, and suspend or remove accounts, that break these terms or the law, or in response to valid legal or privacy requests.

Privacy

How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The service is provided without warranties of any kind. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss of data, indirect or consequential loss, or any loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Leaving and changes

You can leave a group, or ask us to remove your account and contributions, at any time. We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
